CIP UpdateCIP Update
February 23, 2017
During a joint meeting on February 22, the School Board reiterated the need for the Frederick County Board of Supervisors to take some action on the requests for the funding needed to proceed with construction of a fourth high school, the Armel Elementary School addition/renovation and construction of a 12th elementary school. The projects are needed to address overcrowding and future enrollment growth due primarily to residential development.

Congratulations to the top finishers in last night's Frederick County Public Schools Spelling Bee. Robert E. Aylor Middle School student Julia Hart was the winner with Admiral Richard E. Byrd Middle School student Fidel Gonzalez and Armel Elementary School student Ashlee Hudson finishing in second and third place, respectively. The top three finishers will now compete in the Regional Spelling Bee. Apple Pie Ridge Elementary School student Olivia Judd and Redbud Run Elementary School student Trevor Williams are the first and second alternates to compete in the Regional Spelling Bee.
